This is the mysterious door between the world of the hospital, and the world of Morizora's Forest.

2024 Media: 73. Rakuen (2017) - 7/10★ I started and finished this in one 9 hour long sitting and now I've finished crying, it's review time. I considered giving this a 7.5 but bumped it down because I think, for the most part, my scoring is very emotionally charged. I'll start with the cons first and end of the positives! (Rest of review below read more line - Spoiler free dw!)

Cons: - You can't run which I think may have genuinely added 2 hours of gameplay on lmao - The Envoys / certain lighting, music and in general parts of the game genuinely scared me and made me anxious. Outside of me being a baby though, I think those parts felt very strange and out of place somehow? Like they didn't belong in the same game to me. - There are multiple patient's stories to uncover and some of them take up a lot of time and others are over way too quick which threw off the pacing and made some of the game feel rushed imo - The character Uma felt so awkwardly placed in the story - I'm not sure if this is just a me problem or not but it didn't show achievements on my screen as I got them like Steam normally does so I thought there weren't any and so didn't do things I otherwise would have. Pros: - The art style and general aesthetic are very cute - Simple controls and gameplay. This is personal preference of course, but I felt anything more may have taken away from the story which was definitely the focus. - NPCS are cute - The biggest positive of this game is by far the story though. Whilst it does, for me, have it's weaker moments and a strange pacing from time-to-time, there's 5 stories you essentially play through and each of them have an emotional theme that means a wide variety of people can experience emotional damage! - The ending. Oh my god. I think this game was sitting at a 5.5 for me maybe and then the last chunk of game went so hard that I cried like a baby through the whole credits and then some. - The soundtrack was so good, it always set the tone incredibly well and the parts with singing....beautiful I think overall, I went into this game with super high-expectations and so didn't love it as much as I could have because of that but it still was a worthwhile play that I'm sure I'll remember down the line and cry about again :D This game does have upsetting themes obviously so please be careful playing it!
